Fall weather means colder days which can be harsh on your skin and lips. The cold crisp air can cause your lips to become dry and chapped. Some people’s lips begin to crack which in turn causes them to bleed. To prevent your lips from becoming dry this fall season below are some easy tips that will help keep your lips nice and moisturized.

Lip scrubs are an excellent way to get rid of any dry skin as well as skin that is peeling. There are plenty of lip scrub options that you can purchase at your local pharmacy or you can also make your own by using sugar and honey. Sugar and honey are natural ingredients that aren’t harsh on your lips and will leave them feeling soft and smooth.

Lip masks are also a great way to help heal cracked or dry lips. Look for lip masks that are extremely hydrating and soothing. Most masks need to stay on the lips for about 15 to 20 minutes so that the product can fully absorb into the skin. It is recommended that you apply your lip mask right before bed so that the product remains on your lips while you sleep.

Drink at least eight ounces of water every day. Often time, we aren’t consuming enough water to keep our body and skin hydrated. Staying hydrated will improve your skin’s overall appearance. People tend to drink more water during warmer months because the heat causes them to become thirsty and dehydrated. However, it is just as important to drink plenty of water during the colder months to replenish and restore moisture.

Make sure to moisturize your lips throughout the day with a lip balm that contains ingredients that are extra hydrating such as shea butter, vitamin e, and coconut oil. As soon as your start to feel your lips becoming dry, make sure to reapply lip balm. You should also apply lip balm right before you to go to bed so that your lips can stay moisturized throughout the night.

Lastly, investing in a humidifier can also help hydrate your skin and lips. During fall, the air tends to be much drier. Using a humidifier will increase the moisture levels in the air, bringing relief to your skin and lips. You should leave it running while you sleep, so that your skin absorbs as much moisture as possible.
