You are likely diligent about committing to a skin care routine in order to keep your skin looking youthful. However, there’s an important part of our body that needs the same type of attention and care to prolong signs of premature aging. The body part that is easily over looked in people’s skin care routines is the neck. It is essential that you include your neck in your skin care routine so that it doesn’t age faster than the skin on your face.

First and foremost, invest in a high-quality Vitamin C serum that you can apply generously on your neck. Vitamin C serums are great for hydration, brightening, reduce redness and hyper-pigmentation. Vitamin C is safe for most skin types and can be used in conjunction with nearly all skin care products. More importantly, it promotes collagen production which is the protein that helps keep the skin looking smooth. Vitamin C can be applied during your day and night time routine.

Make sure to exfoliate your neck as often as you exfoliate your face. Just like your face, your neck has dead skin cells that can potentially clog your pores if not exfoliated thoroughly. When your pores become clogged they cause the skin to dull. Exfoliating properly will leave your skin looking bright and even.

Get a full night’s rest and apply some retinol. While you sleep, your skin is recharging and absorbing the products that you applied before bed. Retinol helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles by increasing the production of collagen. Like vitamin C, retinol also helps even out skin tone and leaves behind a beautiful glow.

Since collagen depletion is a natural part of the aging process, it is essential to take a collagen supplement to keep the skin tight. Collagen supplements can be consumed in the form of a pill or a dissoluble powder. The powder can be added to your morning coffee or tea and the pill can be taken whenever you take your other vitamins. Additionally, it important to eat foods that are rich in Omega-3 which can be found in cold-water fish, avocados, various seeds and nuts, and flaxseed oil.

Lastly, it is important to get regular exercise. Studies show that regular exercise improves the skin’s elasticity. Regular exercise doesn’t necessarily mean high intensity workouts, simply moving your body for at least 30 minutes a day will improve your skin’s overall appearance. Whether you go for a run or take a walk, your skin will thank you for it.
