How to Get Glowing Skin

Everyone wants to have glowing skin as it is a key indicator that the skin is healthy. There are several changes a person can make that will have a large impact on how your skin looks and feels. Glowing skin can be an abstract term; however, people generally use “glowing skin” to mean that the skin has a nice even texture that doesn’t look dull or dry. Healthy skin will have a smooth surface with very little bumps. Additionally, glowing skin will look hydrated and evenly toned meaning that it won’t look overly dry or oily. Skin is always going to have texture such as visible pores, fine lines and wrinkles, birth marks, and small blemishes. Therefore, it important to know that perfect skin doesn’t exist despite social media’s attempt to tricking us that it does.

There’s an array of factors that influence the way your skin looks. Some of these factors include genetics, hormones, health conditions, medications, environment, and behaviors. Some people are more prone to having dry skin due to dermatitis which is linked to genetics. The fluctuations in our hormones can have an impact on the skin. This is especially true for teenagers which is often when acne breakouts happen. Pre-existing health conditions or medications can also play a role in skin texture. For instance, birth control causes some women to break out while others experience clearer skin. Drastic changes in temperatures can also trigger your skin to become dry or oily and even cause breakouts due to too much oil buildup. Lastly, how much water you consume as well as your sleeping habits and exercise all play a role in skin health. It is important to drink water and stay hydrated throughout the day especially as the warmer month’s approach. Regular exercise is important for the skin because it opens your pores and you’re able to remove bacteria much easier.

It is important to have a consistent skin care routine that includes cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection at the minimum. Cleansing helps remove all the dirt and make-up that you’ve carried throughout the day. Use a cleanser that caters to your skin type and that contains natural ingredients. Use lukewarm water instead of hot water when cleansing and pat dry the skin instead of rubbing dry. As soon as you finish cleansing make sure to moisturize. Your skin should be damp as you apply moisturizer as this will allow the product to absorb fully into the skin. Lastly, and arguably the most important step in your skin care routine is protecting your skin from the sun. Make sure to apply SPF before leaving your home. Use SPF 30 or above for optimal protection.
