5 Ways to Prevent & Reduce Chest Wrinkles

Chest wrinkles are a result of sun exposure and part of the natural process of aging. Most people want to remain looking youthful for as long as possible and this also means reducing the appearance of wrinkles anywhere they may appear. Similar to wrinkles on your face, chest wrinkles appear when the skin has become thin and lost collagen.

Apply sunscreen

The sun’s UV rays are one of the biggest causes of premature aging and causing wrinkles. Most people will apply sunscreen to their face when they are in the sun, but hardly think of applying it to their chest. The skin on your chest is as exposed to the sun as your facial skin is. When you’re outside, you should apply sunscreen to all parts of the skin that are exposed. This will also help to reduce the risk of premature aging and cancer.

Apply collagen creams

Applying body oils or creams to your skin is a good way to battle the collagen-reducing effects of aging. Look for products with Glycolic Acid and/or Retinoic Acid since both have been proven to boost collagen growth and help prevent wrinkles. One of the best collagen boosting ingredients is a vitamin A derivative retinol. However, vitamin A isn’t the only collagen friendly ingredient. Look for collagen moisturizers and serums with antioxidants like vitamins C, E, and consume teas and fruits such as green tea and pomegranate.

Wear supportive apparel

Supportive bras can help reduce the effects of gravity on your chest in your day to day. However, bras can be uncomfortable to wear at night, but luckily there are alternative options such as sports bras or bras with no underwire.

Avoid sunbathing, smoking and alcohol

If you want to have naturally radiant skin, these bad habits have proven to be detrimental not only to your skin but to your body as well. For healthy skin, we suggest avoiding all these activities or at least significantly reducing their frequency. A great alternative to getting the bronzed look that occurs after you’ve been in the sun is investing in a good, tinted moisturizer. A tinted moisturizer will cause your skin to look nice and hydrated while appearing tan.

Consider chest wrinkle reduction treatments

Although you can’t completely avoid wrinkles, there are many non-invasive chest wrinkle reduction treatments that can help reduce the appearance of aging on your chest. Some of these treatments include chemical peels, laser treatments and injectable treatments. Chemical peels target the outer layer of the skin by applying a product that helps remove the surface layer to smooth the texture of your skin. Lasers resurface your skin and promote collagen production by using the power of light and heat energy. Lastly, cosmetic injections, such as Sculptra, helps to rejuvenate the chest. For most people, two to three treatments are required and the results can last up a couple of years.
